Parks Canada uses measures aimed at preventing the introduction of Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) into Prince Albert National Park, helping protect watersheds inside and outside the national park.
Preventing the spread of aquatic invasive species is a shared responsibility.
As the headwaters of two major watersheds, the Churchill River and the North Saskatchewan River basins, Prince Albert National Park takes our role in prevention seriously. Parks Canada is asking the public to do their part to help stop the spread of aquatic invasive species:
- Get your free, mandatory AIS watercraft certification permit and compliance sticker before entering park waters.
- Have your watercraft inspected and decontaminated if it has been used outside Saskatchewan in the past 45 days.
- Clean, drain and dry your gear – make it a habit every time you use your watercraft or water-related gear.
- Pull all drain plugs (including live wells, ballast tanks) on your watercraft every time your watercraft moves between water bodies.
- Spread the message, not the mussels.
