RCMP looking for 19-year old suspect in Montreal Lake homicide

Saskatchewan RCMP’s Homicide Investigation Unit (HIU) is asking the public to report sightings and information on the whereabouts of 19-year-old Trent Thomas John Bird.

Bird has a warrant for his arrest in connection with the the shooting death of 24-year-old Steven Beatty on Montreal Lake Cree Nation.

Officers laid the charge of manslaughter with a firearm on Tuesday.

Bird stands at 5’8″ tall, weighs about 110 pounds and has brown eyes and black hair. He also has a tattoo on his right calf of the numbers 420 with a rocket ship and a star.

He is known to to travel to Prince Albert and area but police are not sure of his current location.

Police were called to a home in Montreal Lake on June 1 and found the injured Beatty. Despite providing first aid, he was pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency responders.
