Grant Programs Open to Support Indigenous Community Safety, Partnerships and Growth

Eligible organizations and community groups are invited to apply for three provincial funding opportunities designed to foster safer, stronger and more connected Indigenous communities: the First Nations and Métis Community Partnership Projects, First Nations and Métis Sponsorships and the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls+ (MMIWG+) Community Response Fund.

New this year, the MMIWG+ Community Response Fund will accept applications until all funding is allotted rather than by intake periods, aligning it with the intake model used for the First Nations and Métis Sponsorships fund. 

“Ensuring that we support access to grants in a way that meets the needs of applicants is a priority for this government,” First Nations, Métis and Northern Affairs Minister Eric Schmalz said. “Because the MMIWG+ Community Response Fund provides funding to support culturally significant projects, it is imperative that we have an effective and efficient intake process. Through these grant programs, we support safety, empowerment and partnership-building efforts that benefit Indigenous people and communities throughout Saskatchewan.”

Under the MMIWG+ Community Response Fund, applicants may receive up to $40,000 for projects focused on awareness, safety and empowerment for Indigenous women, girls, Two-Spirit+ people, their families and communities. Half of the $800,000 in grant funding is provided by Women and Gender Equality Canada.
