Red Earth man charged with attempted murder

An attempted murder charge has been laid after a shooting on Red Earth Cree Nation. 

Carrot River and Nipawin RCMP received a report about the incident on Tuesday. 

Officers responded and found an injured man, who was taken to hospital by EMS with serious injuries. 

The investigation determined an altercation happened between two men inside a home on Red Earth Cree Nation, and during that altercation one of the males discharged a firearm, injuring the second male. 

The suspect fled on foot, before being arrested that same evening on Red Earth Cree Nation.

24-year-old Floyd Nawakayas from Red Earth Cree Nation faces charges including attempted murder and weapons possession. 

He will appear in court in Carrot River on April 9.
