The Boreal Healthcare Foundation is proud to announce that the 2026 Med Gala, presented by MNP, raised $142,376 in support of healthcare across Prince Albert and northern Saskatchewan.

Held on March 27 at the Prince Albert Exhibition Centre, the evening brought together healthcare professionals, community leaders, donors, and partners in a shared commitment to strengthening care close to home. Through ticket purchases, sponsorships, and both silent and live auctions, guests contributed to an evening defined by generosity, connection, and impact.

“This night is about what’s possible when a community comes together around healthcare,” said Cody Barnett, CEO of the Boreal Healthcare Foundation. “A hospital is not defined by its walls, it is defined by what the teams inside are able to do. And what happens next, for patients and families across our region, only happens because of the people in this community.”

The Foundation extends its sincere gratitude to MNP, Presenting Sponsor, for their leadership and continued commitment to advancing healthcare in Prince Albert.

The evening also recognized outstanding contributions to healthcare through the 2026 Med Gala Awards:

Outstanding Achievement in Healthcare Award — Dr. Edmund Royeppen

Presented by Malcolm J. Jenkins Family Foundation

A general surgeon serving Prince Albert since 2003, Dr. Royeppen is recognized for his clinical leadership and decades-long commitment to patient care, education, and surgical excellence both in Canada and internationally. Patients describe him as real, truthful, and fully invested in their care.

Nursing Excellence Award — Jaclyn McDonald

Presented by USask, College of Nursing

Born and raised in Prince Albert, Jaclyn is a dedicated maternal health nurse and lactation consultant whose personal experiences, including having two children require NICU care, have deepened her advocacy for maternal mental health and family-centred care. Her work is grounded in empathy and lived experience, supporting families through some of their most vulnerable and transformative moments with compassion and understanding.

Collaborative Care Award –– Victoria Hospital Laboratory Services Team

Presented by Anchor Managed Solutions

Serving as a 24/7 diagnostic hub for northern Saskatchewan, this multidisciplinary team performs over 1.6 million tests annually, playing a vital role in timely, accurate care across the region. Behind every diagnosis and treatment decision, their work ensures that patients, whether in Prince Albert or the far north, receive the answers they need when it matters most.

From powerful patient stories to moments of celebration and generosity, the Med Gala continues to highlight the people and partnerships that make a meaningful difference in healthcare every day.

Funds raised through the event will support critical equipment and priorities at Victoria Hospital and across the region, focusing on the Equip the Vic campaign, an urgent regional priority to ensure the new hospital is fully equipped and ready to deliver care from day one.

This support helps ensure that individuals and families can access quality care close to home.

The Boreal Healthcare Foundation thanks every donor, sponsor, healthcare professional, and community member who made this evening possible. Together, you are shaping the future of healthcare in Prince Albert.
