Preliminary inquiry hearing dates have been finalized for one of two men charged with the murder of Darren Laviolette Jr.

Darrenson Head’s attendance was waived when his case was discussed on Friday morning at Prince Albert Provincial Court. His lawyer, Zachary Carter, confirmed that five days, starting on Aug. 27, have been set aside for the evidence testing hearing. The additional days have been scheduled for September.

On Sept.1, 2024, Darren Laviolette Jr. was found deceased outside Carlton Park Apartments in the 1200 block of 28th Street East.

Head and Hayden Joseyounen were later arrested and jointly charged. Head was located by police in Melfort and Joseyounen was found at a residence in Prince Albert.

Jozseyounen’s matter has been scheduled to return to court on May 26 for a possible plea.

Following Laviolette’s death, a number of heartfelt messages were shared on social media by friends and family, including one by his father.

“My Son, My Man, My first born son Darren Jr. My heart broke into a million pieces when they told me you weren’t here with us anymore. I’m hurt, I’m shattered and I miss you so much already. I love you my man,” he wrote.
