Little Red, Wapiti Valley ski hills reflect on snowy and successful seasons
As temperatures slowly warm and the snow melts away, local ski hills are looking back at the wicked season it was.
From a snowstorm that dropped over 40 cm to a cold spell that saw temperatures plummet to near –50, the weather proved to be one of the few challenges for both the Kinsmen Ski and Snowboard Centre in Prince Albert and the Wapiti Valley Regional Park north of Melfort this winter.
Eileen Shaw, general manager of Wapiti Valley, said that old man winter certainly made his presence felt.
“We never had that really nice, warm, beautiful day to ski, but the people came out anyway and supported us and it was great. The year actually turned out quite well, in spite of the weather.”
