Keep ‘em coming: Zablocki named Hockey East Women’s Player of the Year

The accolades keep on rolling in for Prince Albert’s Stryker Zablocki.

On Wednesday, on top of the awards that she won last month, Zablocki was named the Hockey East Player of the Year, as well as the co-Rookie of the Year.

The honour comes after her stellar freshman season in NCAA Div. I with the Northeastern Huskies, where she led the entire conference with 34 points (17G-17A) in just 24 games. Outside of conference play, she had 42 points (18G-24A) in 34 games which placed her 11th across the entirety of NCAA Div. I women’s hockey.

The Hockey East Player of the Year, formally named the Cammi Granato Award, recognizes the top player in the conference based on performance and is one of the most prestigious honours in collegiate women’s hockey. Granato is a women’s hockey pioneer; she captained the 1998 U.S women’s Olympic team to a gold medal in Nagano, Japan, and was the first woman inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2010. Zablocki, a Carlton graduate, is just the sixth Husky to ever win the award.

Alongside Zablocki winning the Hockey East Rookie of the Year is Boston College’s Ava Thomas. She led the conference in assists (19) and finished second with 14 goals and 33 points, only behind Zablocki.

The two massive awards for the 19-year-old are the latest additions to her trophy case, as she was most recently awarded the Hockey East Scoring Champion and named to the Hockey East All-Rookie team. As Scoring Champion, Zablocki is the first freshman to win since Daryl Watts did it for Boston College in 2018, and the first player from Northeastern to win since Alina Mueller in 2023.

On top of that, within the last five years, she:

  • helped lead the Bishop Kearney Selects 19U team to their first U.S. National Championship with a school-best 56-3-0 record in 2025
  • led the Regina Rebels to back-to-back AAA provincial championships and medal finishes at the Esso Cup with bronze in 2023 and gold in 2024, also named Esso Cup tournament MVP in 2024
  • helped Team Canada to medals at the IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship, winning bronze in 2024 and gold in 2025. Also named to the All-Star Media Team in 2025

Zablocki and the Northeastern Huskies are in the middle of their conference playoffs and are set to battle for the Hockey East Championship in a winner-take-all game on Saturday afternoon against the University of Connecticut Huskies.

The winner will be awarded with the Bertagna Trophy as the Hockey East Champions and will move on to represent the conference at the NCAA Div. I Women’s Ice Hockey Tournament, where they will compete for the National Championship.
