Youth bowlers knock down competition at provincials

A pair of young bowlers, who train at Prince Albert Minto Rec Center, are rolling on to nationals after a successful outing at the provincial youth doubles championships.

The competition was held last weekend at the Golden Mile Bowling Center in Regina.

Ben Paetsch, 13, and Xander Gareau, 11, finished first in the 12 team Junior division.

Over the course of four games played, their best score was a 525 and their average was 422.75.

Paetsch is actually from Rosthern but hones his skills in Prince Albert.

In total there were 35 teams at the provincial competition, divided up amongst bantam, junior and senior divisions.

Minto teams also finished fourth in Bantam, and ninth in Seniors.

 Nationals are scheduled for May 4 to 6 in Winnipeg.
