Fleeing suspect alleged responsible for causing crash, enters not guilty pleas
A man alleged responsible for causing a multi-vehicle crash in Prince Albert’s downtown area, after fleeing from police, is maintaining his innocence.
By way of his legal aid lawyer, 32-year-old Jonathan Meldrum entered not guilty pleas. The case was discussed Thursday morning at provincial court and a trial date was secured for May 13.
On the afternoon July 2, 2025, police observed a driver who was not wearing a seatbelt, and performed a traffic stop. As the officer began exiting their police vehicle, the driver fled in their SUV at a high rate of speed.
A short time later, the Prince Albert Police Service received a report of a collision.
