Prince Albert police investigate bear spray incident at Walmart store

Feb 23, 2026 | 3:22 PM

The Prince Albert Police Service is investigating an incident that forced the temporary closure on Friday of the Walmart store.

At approximately 5:25 p.m., officers were called to the Cornerstone area business for multiple reports of a bear spray incident.

Upon arrival, they located a man who appeared to be suffering from the effects of bear spray. He was treated on scene by Parkland Ambulance paramedics.

Through their initial investigation, officers were also able to observe video surveillance of the incident and obtain a suspect description.

Other officers began patrolling the surrounding area in attempt to locate the suspect but those attempts were unsuccessful.

“Through continued investigation, officers were able to identify the suspect and police are currently consulting with the Crown regarding charges.”

According to a store manager, an altercation occurred between two men near the check-out area.

“Two customers had a personal beef and they had it out inside the store,” they said.

The store was closed for about an hour to allow time for the area to be cleaned up and aired out.
