Family Day action against Warriors gives Raiders chance to clinch East Division

Feb 16, 2026 | 9:48 AM

After one day off and a gutsy win on Saturday, the Prince Albert Raiders are getting back into action mid day on Family Day. With puck drop scheduled for 2:00 p.m., the Raiders will play host to the Moose Jaw Warriors for the first of two matchups this week.

The Raiders have a chance to clinch to top spot in the Eastern Conference with this game. With any kind of win for the Raiders, and a regulation loss for Brandon in their game with Saskatoon, the Raiders will officially clinch the banner for a second year in a row.

This is the fourth time the Raiders and Warriors will meet this year out of six. So far, the Raiders have won all three matchups this year, 6-4 on Nov. 1 in Prince Albert, 3-2 in a shootout on Jan. 22 in Moose Jaw, and again in Moose Jaw 4-3 most recently on Jan. 27.

For the Raiders, Moose Jaw is the first team to force the Raiders into a shootout this season, and the Raiders went back to the shootout for their most recent win on Saturday 5-4 against Saskatoon on Saturday. Before that, the Raiders lost in Brandon 4-3 on Friday, but before that the Raiders had a three game win streak and a five game point streak.

In the standings, the Raiders are still first in the Eastern Conference with a record of 41-8-5 (Wins-Losses-Overtime Losses), good for a seven point lead over the Medicine Hat Tigers, but still six points back of the Everett Silvertips in first in the WHL.

On the other hand, the Warriors are searching for a win. They’ve lost their last two games to Regina 5-2 at home and 4-2 in Regina. Their last point came in a 4-3 overtime loss last Tuesday, but have lost their last five games. Their last win was February 4 5-3 over Swift Current.

The Warriors are fighting for their playoff lives right now sitting in ninth place in the Eastern Conference, tied with the Regina Pats at 45 points but the Warriors have played two extra games compared to the Pats to hold a record of 19-28-7.

On special teams, the Raiders powerplay scored on a 6-on-5 delayed penalty on Saturday, but was otherwise held off the board. The powerplay still sits fifth in the league at 28.8%, while their penalty kill is still right in the middle of the league at 11th, operating at 77.3%.

As for the Warriors, their powerplay is also in the top half of the league at 26.5%, good for ninth in the league. The penalty kill however needs work, they’re sitting second last in the league at 69.9%.

On to leading scorers, Aiden Oiring is the only Raider to hit the 60 point mark this season with 26G-34A-60P. Two players are one point behind him though, Brandon Gorzynski has 25G-34A-59P and Daxon Rudolph at 23G-36A-59P. Max Heise rounds out the top four with 24G-28A-52P.

Scoring streaks:

  • Jonah Sivertson has 3G-7A in his last five games, including a goal in each of the last three
  • Riley Boychuk has 2G-0A in his last two games
  • Linden Burrett has 1G-1A in his last two games

As for the Warriors, Landen McFadden has the team lead in points with 27G-33A-60P. In second sits Pavel McKenzie with 16G-39A-55P, then Aiden Ziprick with 15G-30A-45P, but then there’s a steeper dropoff to fourth with Ethan Semeniuk at 12G-25A-37P.

Scoring streaks:

  • Landen McFadden has 3G-2A in his last three games
  • Casey Brown has 1G-2A in his last three games
  • Connor Schmidt has 0G-2A in his last two games

Finally on to the goaltending matchup, Michal Orsulak has the latest win for the Raiders with a record of 19-4-3 on the year, a 0.898 save percentage, a 2.47 goals against average, and two shutouts on the year. Behind him is Steele Bass with a record of 9-2-1, a 0.910 save percentage, a 1.91 goals against average, and two shutouts on the year.

As for the Warriors, Chase Wutzke has been their starter this year with a record of 11-18-4 this season, a 0.905 save percentage, a 3.31 goals against average, and one shutout this year. Kyle Jones has been backing him up, he has a record of 6-11-3, a 0.864 save percentage, and a 4.87 goals against average.
