Sask. residents provided access to court activity

During the month of January, there were 104,685 court appearances in Saskatchewan.

There were 7,861 new criminal code charges laid.

Those are among the statistics now available in a new court data dashboard available online through the Sask Law Courts website. The numbers only reflect activity at provincial courts and not Court of King’s Bench or the Court of Appeal.

“The goal in providing this Dashboard on our website is to make court data more accessible to the public, and provide transparent data with timely updates,” the provincial court said in a news release.

There are three sections with their own sets of data: criminal offence stats, provincial offence stats and court appearance stats.

New numbers are added at the beginning of each month. Over time, the courts aim to include more comparisons of the data month over month and year over year.
