RCMP issue 134 tickets during northern traffic blitz
Saskatchewan RCMP is reporting the results of a traffic safety blitz last weekend.
Between Jan. 30 and Feb. 1, officers from Regina, Prince Albert, Estevan, Saskatoon and Moose Jaw conducted check stops in the communities and roadways of La Ronge, Stanley Mission, Grandmother’s Bay and Missinipe.
Police were checking for unsafe driving behaviours, including impairment by drug and alcohol. Officers stopped and conducted mandatory alcohol screening tests on 494 vehicles.
In total, 134 tickets were issued, as well as 335 warnings. Officers charged one driver for impaired driving and issued nine roadside suspensions (eight for drug consumption and one for alcohol consumption before driving).
