UPDATE: RCMP investigate suspicious death on Waterhen First Nation

UPDATE: As a result of continued investigation, RCMP reported that the Homicide Investigative Unit arrested a man on Jan. 30.

24-year-old Skye Lasas from Waterhen First Nation is charged with one count of second-degree murder.

The deceased man has been identified as a 31-year-old from Waterhen First Nation. Police are not releasing his name, but did say the investigation has determined the suspect and victim were known to each other.  

Lasas is scheduled to appear in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on Feb. 2 at 9:30 a.m.

The Homicide Investigative Unit continues to investigate.

The Saskatchewan RCMP Homicide Investigation Unit is trying to determine the circumstances that led to the death of a man on Waterhen First Nation.

On Jan. 30, around 8:45 a.m., Meadow Lake RCMP received a report of an injured man at a residence on the First Nation. Responding officers located a seriously injured man, who was later pronounced deceased by EMS at the scene. Investigators said the death is considered suspicious.

Police said the victim’s family has been notified, and victim services have been made available to them. No further identifying information or additional details about the investigation are being released.
