Raiders make it seven in a row in big win over Tigers
Just a week ago, the Prince Albert Raiders walked in to Medicine Hat and stopped a 19-game winning streak for the Tigers in their home barn. On Saturday night, the Raiders were playing their fourth game in five days and on a six game winning streak, and the Tigers were coming off their second straight loss and poised to spoil the Raiders streak.
Both teams were missing big guns with the Tigers playing with five defencemen thanks to the absence of Bryce Pickford and Niilopekka Muhonen, and the Raiders missing the services of both Brayden Dube and Linden Burrett. The Raiders were in survival mode for the middle period, but they dominated the other two for a 5-1 win.
The Raiders opened the scoring at the 10:00 mark when Aiden Oiring entered down the left side, and he sent the puck hard around behind the net and around to the right point for Justice Christensen. He fired on goal, and Owen Corkish tipped it and it bounced for Brandon Gorzynski to knock out of the air and into the back of the net for his first of the night and 21st of the year.
Gorzynski scored his second at the 13:48 mark on the powerplay. Daxon Rudolph carried the puck over his own blueline and dropped it back for Braeden Cootes. He crossed the line side by side with Gorzynski, and they sent a pass back and forth as they crossed centre which opened a lane for Cootes. He skated through the defenceman while Gorzynski crashed the net from the other side, and Cootes found the Gorzynski who tapped it in for his second of the night and 22nd of the year.
