Sivertson and Orsulak join Rudolph at WHL Prospects Game

For the first time since the WHL All-Star Game in January of 2000, two teams made up of the top draft eligible prospects in the WHL will meet on Feb. 18 during the WHL Prospects Game.

Raiders defenceman Daxon Rudolph was already named to the team when the game was first announced back in December, but now that full rosters have been announced, fans will have the opportunity to cheer on two more Raiders who are joining him.

Forward Jonah Sivertson, as well as goaltender Michal Orsulak, will join Rudolph for the event in Langley, B.C.

Rudolph, the reigning WHL Player of the Week, is currently riding a four-game point streak with 2G-6A. In the last 18 games dating back to Dec.3, Rudolph has been held without a point once and has posted 13G-19A for a total of 33 points.

Rudolph, along with Medicine Hat Tigers forward Liam Ruck, was one of the two players first announced to Team East. On the year, the 17-year-old Rudolph has 50 points and sits tied with 20-year-old Aiden Oiring for the top spot in Raiders scoring.

Sivertson, who showed major improvement when he joined the team at the start of the year, has stepped up his game even more as the season has gone on. In the 27 games before the announcement of the WHL Prospects Game, Sivertson had posted 9G-7A. His 16 points in 27 games works out to 0.59 points per game. Since then, Sivertson has played in 15 games and has 6G-12A, increasing his production to 1.13 points per game.

Finally, in goal, Orsulak was named as one of the two goaltenders Team East will take into the game. Orsulak helped Team Czechia get past Canada in the semi-finals of the World Juniors. Czechia went on to earn a silver medal. Since then, Orsulak has a 3-1 record, including a win over the Medicine Hat Tigers. His goals against average of 2.53 sits fourth in the WHL, and his two shutouts on the year are tied for second in the league.

Sivertson, a Regina native, is one of two players born in Saskatchewan to take part in the game; the other being Saskatoon product and Red Deer Rebel Beckett Hamilton who will also play for Team East. Selections for the team were made in collaboration between NHL Central Scouting and NHL Clubs.

The WHL Prospects Game is set for Wednesday, Feb.18 at the Langley Events Centre, home of the Vancouver Giants.
