Prince Albert area car jacking case, involving local senior, committed for trial
Two people from a group of four alleged involved in the shooting and robbery of a man at a work site north of Prince Albert, have now been committed for trial.
That was the outcome of a preliminary inquiry hearing held Wednesday morning at provincial court for Melissa McCallum and Angus Heathen. Trial dates at Court of King’s Bench have not yet been set.
A publication ban prohibits the release of any evidence and the judge’s reasons for committing the case to trial.
On October 24, 2024, 66-year-old Orlan Peterson was robbed and shot near White Star Road. The incident prompted a province wide alert, and also sparked public outrage and an online fundraiser that raised close to $130,000.
