Two arrested after non-fatal shooting at Little Red reserve

Jan 20, 2026 | 5:16 PM

A man and a woman from Little Red River Reserve are facing a number of serious charges after a shooting that occurred in the small community Sunday morning.

Jared Naytowhow and Jackie Morin appeared in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Tuesday.

The police investigation determined the events began around 9 a.m. when a male who was outside, was approached by a black SUV. One of the occupants inside the SUV was armed with a firearm and discharged it, injuring the male.

The black SUV then drove away and the injured male was taken to hospital by EMS with injuries described as non-life-threatening in nature.

Prince Albert RCMP searched the area and located a vehicle matching the SUV’s description outside a residence in Little Red River.

Officers set up containment at the residence and engaged Saskatchewan RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team to assist.

Naytowhow and Morin exited the residence and were arrested by police.

Naytowhow was charged with multiple gun related offences including discharge with intent. He’s also accused of aggravated assault.

Morin was charged with aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm when knowing possession was unauthorized.
