29-year-old man charged after string of firearms calls in two-hour span: P.A. Police

Prince Albert Police have arrested and charged a 29-year-old man after officers responded to multiple firearms calls within a two-hour span.

The string of incidents happened late Wednesday night and began at around 9:50 p.m. when police were called to the 1700 block of 16th Avenue West for a vehicle that had been shot at. Upon arrival, police learned that the incident happened on in the 1000 block of 15th Street West, and that both occupants in the vehicle were unharmed.

The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived but was described as wearing all black and carrying a backpack.

Minutes later, police responded to the 1800 block of Central Avenue for a report of a man with a similar description in a verbal altercation with the occupants of an SUV. The man then pointed what appeared to be a firearm at the vehicle before it drove away.

Then, roughly a half hour later at 10:30 p.m., officers were called to a home in the 600 block of 18th Street West where a man was reported to have entered the residence, brandished a firearm, and left.

An hour later, police received call about a man carrying a firearm in the 900 block of 17th Street West. Police were unable to locate the suspect until a short time later, when they spotted a man matching the suspect’s description in the 1100 block of 17th Street West. He was arrested without incident and upon searching the man, police located and seized a sawed-off firearm.

The man, who was unnamed, has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm knowing the possession is unauthorized and possession of a firearm while being prohibited from doing so by a release order.
