Prince Albert RCMP are looking for a man with a gun wanted for assaulting two people and shooting a gun in the RM of Buckland last week.

Officers were first called out at 3 a.m. on January 7 for a report of a man being chased by another person holding a gun.

Their investigation revealed that two men and a woman were in a vehicle when an altercation began. One of the men assaulted the others and took them into a forested area and pointed the gun at them.

The suspect shot the gun but did not injure anyone. The two victims then ran further into the bush to get away from the suspect but got lost.

To find the lost pair, officers deployed a drone and found the man in the woods and used the light on the drone to help the man find his way out of the forest. At the same time, they told him how to use the GPS on his phone to navigate himself and used the lights and sirens on their vehicle to help give him more visual aid. After he was rescued, he was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The victim was guided out of the woods using the search light on the drone. (submitted/RCMP)

A police dog was also called in to help track the woman, whom they later found in a remote area of the RM of Prince Albert.

After locating here, officers used snowmobiles to rescue her, and she was then taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are looking for 30-year-old Justin Charles of Prince Albert and have charged him with assault, pointing a gun, unauthorized possession of a prohibited/restricted weapon, negligence causing bodily harm and other charges.
