Realtor recognized as 2025 Chamber of Commerce Legacy award winner

A 40-year career in real estate that turned into a family business has earned Ron Lypchuk a big nod from the Prince Albert and District Chamber of Commerce.

Lypchuk is the 2025 Legacy Award recipient, the Chamber said on Monday. The Legacy Award is one of 12 business awards the Chamber hands out every year.

“These awards aren’t about popularity — they’re about celebrating excellence, leadership, and positive impact. Every nominee is thoughtfully reviewed by independent, anonymous judges, ensuring recognition is based on merit and achievement,” said the Chamber, when asking for nominations several weeks ago.

Lypchuk began his career in 1978, earning his real estate license and working in Saskatoon before moving to Prince Albert.

In the 40 years that followed, his daughter Brianne joined him in the business and then his son Michael.

“Together, the Lypchuk family built a trusted and recognizable presence in the region’s real estate landscape. Ron officially retired in June 2020 after an impressive 42 years in the industry,” said the Chamber.

Lypchuk also ran the pulp mill’s cafeteria for 10 year until the mill closed and then invested in the building of Taco Time on Second Avenue in 1980.

He operated that for a decade before selling to his business partner.

“Balancing two demanding industries, Ron built a reputation for hard work, dedication, and community-minded leadership,” the Chamber stated.

He and his family have given back to the community through their support of the Children’s Hospital Foundation and the Children’s Miracle Network.

They also support the local food bank and Lypchuk has volunteered his time on the local sports council.

A devoted Prince Albert Raiders fan, Ron has proudly held season tickets for more than 30 years. He volunteers his time with the Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church where his dedication earned him a special award from the bishop.

The Chamber will formally recognize Ron at the 2025 Legacy Brunch on March 17, where community members, colleagues, and family will gather to celebrate his outstanding contributions.
