Prince Albert youth step up to help homeless
Determined to help the homeless community in Prince Albert, Mirra Michel and her cousin Starlette raised hundreds of dollars and assembled some care packages for a dozen people.
Their fundraiser started last October and ran to the end of December. Through a social media link, the young women collected $675 and then used the money to buy items they thought people would appreciate.
On New Year’s Eve they went to areas where they had seen homeless people and hand delivered their gifts.
“One of the people we gave it to, he just recently became homeless and he was just so happy and so grateful that he got it, and [it was] just like a great way to start the New Year,” Michel said.
