Dec 31, 2025 | 9:37 AM

A 26-year-old man from Prince Albert is behind bars after a drug bust in Pelican Narrows just before Christmas.

RCMP officers charged Tanner Ballantyne with aggravated assault, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, forcible confinement, and trafficking.

Officers were called on Dec. 24 to a serious assault at a home on Ballantyne Street where they found a man had locked a woman into a room in the home. Police said he then went into the room with a gun, there was an altercation, and the woman was injured; however, the gun was not fired. She was taken to the medical clinic with non-life-threatening injuries.

The man was arrested.

Officers returned the next day and found about one kilogram of meth, ammunition, a sawed-off rifle, gun parts, a machete and some cash.

Two women and another man were arrested.

Sylvia Ballantyne of Pelican Narrows is charged with trafficking and possession of stolen property over $5,000.

Both of the Ballantynes appeared in Prince Albert Provincial Court yesterday morning. They were remanded until their next court date on Jan. 6.

The other man and woman were released without charge.
