Raiders set to welcome Broncos in the midst of big charity night

After a big 7-1 win in Swift Current on Saturday, the Prince Albert Raiders are back home for the final game of 2025 on Monday as they welcome the Broncos for a rematch. The game has a few extra things going on, including a new specialty jersey for ‘Super Hero Night’ to support the Children’s Miracle Network, a clothing drive, and 50/50 donation towards the relief efforts for the Salvation Army.

First off regarding Super Hero Night, the Raiders are donning comic book inspired jerseys with all the players nicknames on the back rather than their actual last names. The jerseys, along with the capes the players will be wearing for warmups, are available for auction right now by clicking here.

Raiders Business Manager Mike Scissons said that this is a league initiative with Re/Max, and the team is having fun supporting the cause.

“Superhero Night, it’s a sponsorship deal with Re/Max and the Western Hockey League and all money raised is going to go to the Children’s Miracle Network and support the Jim Pattison Hospital. So we will be wearing these superhero-inspired jerseys and and prior to that, we’ll be wearing capes during warm ups and the capes themselves are pretty cool, they got a nice little ‘BIM, POW, BANG!’ kind of theme to them on the sleeves of the jerseys and the back of the jerseys have the players nicknames on them so you know I have a little bit of fun with it. It’s gonna be a fun night.”

The jersey auction online will be cut off at 5:30 p.m. Any unsold jerseys will be available for bid during the game at the Art Hauser Centre.

The Raiders are also going to be supporting a local cause as well. With the devastating fire to the Salvation Army earlier this week, the Raiders have made the decision to donate half of their portion of the 50/50 towards the Salvation Army, as well as accept donations of clothing.

“It takes a community and so what we’re hoping our fans can do is come to the rink, bring some warm winter clothing, whether it be jackets, sweaters, socks, toques, blankets. Obviously there’s a lot of need right now as the temperature dips down to around -35 C with the wind again tonight. There’s a lot of people who are in need of that stuff that no longer has it.”

Monday’s Matchup

Onto the actual game itself, this is the fifth of six meetings this season between the Raiders and Broncos. The Raiders are undefeated against the Broncos, first on Oct. 24 in Prince Albert 4-0, then again in Swift Current 5-0 on Oct. 25, a 7-4 win on Dec. 12 in Swift Current, and most recently the Raiders won 7-1 in Swift Current on Saturday coming out of the Christmas break.

Despite the win on Saturday, the Raiders sit second in the Eastern Conference with a 24-5-4 (Wins-Losses-Overtime Losses) record, sitting one point behind of the Medicine Hat Tigers who played twice since the Christmas break already.

The Raiders have won their last two games in a row with big scores, that aforementioned 7-1 win in Swift Current on Saturday, and then a 8-3 win over Kelowna before the break. Before that, the Regina Pats beat the Raiders 5-4 to snap a five-game winning streak for the Raiders.

The Broncos on the other hand have now lost 13 straight and sit as the last place team in the league with a record of 8-24-1.

Along with Saturday’s 7-1 loss at the hands of the Raiders, the Broncos most recent games have seen them lose 9-2 to Calgary, 10-2 to Medicine Hat, and 7-4 to the Raiders back on Dec. 12.

On specials teams, the Raiders powerplay is 6/11 in the last two games, bringing the Raiders to 26.8 per cent, 11th in the league. As for the penalty kill, it’s 11/12 in the last three games, also bringing them to 11th in the league at 77.7 per cent.

As for the Broncos, their powerplay dropped down to 15th in the league at 21.7 per cent, while their penalty kill is down to 20th in the league at 69.6 per cent.

With one point on Saturday, Aiden Oiring maintained his lead in Raiders scoring with 14G-23A-37P. Brandon Gorzynski was held pointless but still sits second with 16G-19A-35P, and theirs now a tie for third between Riley Boychuk 7G-27A-34P and Daxon Rudolph with 16G-18A-34P.

On to point streaks, and because Brock Cripps didn’t play on Saturday due to illness, he still holds a nine game point streak with 1G-9A in that time. It’s unclear if Cripps will play to try and continue that streak, but there are still 10 other streaks active:

• With two goals on Saturday, Daxon Rudolph now has 9G-7A in the last nine games
• Brayden Dube has 3G-5A in the last six games
• Riley Boychuk has 2G-6A in his last five games
• Justice Christensen has 3G-1A in his last four games
• Jonah Sivertson has 1G-3A in the last three games
• Aiden Oiring has 1G-4A in the last two games
• Maddix McCagherty has 1G-2A in the last two games
• Linden Burrett has 2G-0A in the last two games
• Both Benett Kelly and Owen Corkish have 0G-2A in the last two games

Leading the scoring for the Broncos this year is Noah Kosick with 10G-23A-33P, but was held pointless on Saturday. There is also a three way tie for second in team scoring between Zach Pantelakis with 9G-10A-19P, and both Anthony Wilson and Jace McFaul with 7G-12A-19P.

With only one goal scored on Saturday for the Broncos from Trae Wilke and assists from Brennen Hocher and Jaxen Gauchier, the only active streak for the Broncos belongs to Gauchier with 1G-1A in his last two games.

In between the pipes, the Raiders are still without Michal Orsulak at the World Juniors with the Team Czechia along with fellow Raider Matyas Man. Dimitri Fortin was solid Saturday night, his record improved to 12-2-1, his save percentage up to 0.881, his goals against average down to 3.06, and he still has one shutout on the year. Backing him up was Steele Bass with a 2-0-0 record, 0.878 save percentage, and a 2.50 goals against average.

For the Broncos, Joey Rocha’s numbers took a hit as his record dropped to 8-15-0, save percentage down to 0.874, and his goals against average up to 4.88. Behind him is Aiden Eskit with a record of 0-9-1 on the year, a 0.859 save percentage, and a 5.39 goals against average.

The Raiders will take on the Broncos for the fifth time of the year in Prince Albert on at 7 p.m., and will be broadcast on 900 CKBI with the pregame show starting at 6:30 p.m.
