Woman charged following robbery, police pursuit in Prince Albert

A 26-year-old woman was arrested by Prince Albert Police following an armed robbery that led to a police pursuit Sunday morning.

Officers were called at about 9:45 am to the 500 block of 5th Street East after a man reported he had been robbed of his vehicle at knifepoint by an unknown man.

The victim did not have any injuries and the thief had fled in the stolen vehicle before police arrived. After some investigation, the vehicle was seen by officers in the area of 14th Avenue West and 19th Street West.

Officers activated their emergency lights to pull the driver over but they did not stop. Two men were seen inside the vehicle by the officers.

It was seen again shortly afterwards and a pursuit was authorized due to the violent nature of the first call for service.

A tire deflation was set up at the intersection of 22nd Street and 15th Avenue West and was deployed successfully, but the driver kept driving.

A second tire deflation device was set up on the 800 block of 15th Avenue East shortly after that and again, it was successful and again, the driver did not stop.

Finally, officers were able to disable the stolen vehicle near 4th Avenue West and 38th Street West.

“Incidents involving violence and the use of weapons present a serious risk to public safety. Our officers made measured and lawful decisions throughout this incident to protect the community and bring the situation to a safe conclusion. We will continue to hold those who endanger others accountable while ensuring our actions remain proportionate and grounded in public safety,” said Chief of Police Patrick Nogier.

The lone occupant was a 26-year-old woman who will have a bail hearing tomorrow morning in Prince Albert Provincial Court.

Amanda Skotheim is facing charges of robbery, evading police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and possession of a vehicle obtained by crime.

Prince Albert Police Service are continuing their investigation into the incident and ask anyone with information to contact police at 306-953-4222.
