In night two of their three games in three nights stretch, the Prince Albert Raiders were already coming off a big win the night before in Swift Current. With their fourth and final Teddy Bear Toss game of the season in their own building, the Raiders put on their most dominant performance of the season over the Lethbridge Hurricanes to win 5-1.

The Hurricanes gave up the first few chances early, but they capitalized on their first chance at the other end. At the 2:43 mark, Steele Bass had to make a great save through traffic on a onetimer from the point, but the rebound came out to a crowded slot. He made a great save on the rebound, but the second puck bounced off his pad to a waiting Owen Berge to break open the scoring.

The Raiders quickly responded, and went on to play their most dominant period of the season. At 7:01, a blocked shot from Justice Christensen bounced into the air into the slot, and Max Heise batted the puck out of the air with his hand into the corner. Brayden Dube quickly stole the puck back for the Raiders, and he sent a pass out of the corner just inches in front of the goaltender’s stick for Aiden Oiring to tip in. With his 12th of the season, Oiring finally gave the Raiders their Teddy Bear Toss goal after playing through three others on the road.

From there the gas pedal stayed on the floor for the Raiders as they poured shots on Kohen Cleaver, but it wasn’t until their second powerplay of the period when they could get one through. At 16:16, the Raiders worked the puck along their umbrella from Riley Boychuk on the right, Brock Cripps in the middle, and into a onetimer on the left from Daxon Rudolph that hit a defenceman in front, off the side of Cleaver’s stomach, and into the net for Rudolph’s 12th of the season.

After 1: Raiders 2 – 1 Hurricanes, shots 22-6 Raiders

The onslaught continued early in the second when Evan Smith got the cycle going. He came out of the left corner, left the puck at the blue line for Benett Kelly, and he sent it back up the wall for Riley Boychuk now in the left corner. Boychuk got his head up in time to see Ty Meunier skating into the faceoff dot with a wide open look to the goal, and Meunier got everything he could into the onetimer over the shoulder and under the bar for his sixth of the season at 1:54.

Then at the 10:35 mark, Linden Burrett got the puck out of his zone to Maddix McCagherty on the right side of the opposing blue line. He walked in, and he worked the puck up and down the right wall. Much like the night before, the rest of the play caught up to McCagherty but he continued to earn his space and waited for the play to set up in front of him, then found Benett Kelly for a onetimer. For the second night in a row, McCagherty set up Kelly for a shot from the point and Kelly has his third of the season.

The Raiders continued to attack, and at 14:10 it was Linden Burrett again who started the play when he carried the puck in through the middle of the blueline, and before reaching the top of the circles he quickly shoveled the puck to the right point for Max Heise. Aiden Oiring was streaking down the left side, and Heise found him on the left side back door with a picture perfect feed. Oiring faked like he was going behind the net, then cut to the middle on the backhand and tucked in his second of the night, 13th of the season.

After 2: Raiders 5 – 1 Hurricanes, shots 11-5 Raiders, 33-11 Raiders overall

The third period started with a bit of penalty trouble for the Raiders with two penalties in the first six minutes, but the Raiders managed to kill them both off and started to find some momentum again. The Raiders continued to throw some of there young guys over the boards as the game went on including the likes of Calgary Flames U18 AAA callup Kyle Obobaifo.

With one more penalty against the Raiders in the final minute, they managed to kill it off to cap off their fourth straight win during a Teddy Bear Toss game.

FINAL: Raiders 5 – 1 Hurricanes, shots 8-7 Hurricanes, 40-19 Raiders overall

With 18 saves on 19 shots, Steele Bass earned a 0.947 save percentage on the night in his second start of the year in the WHL. This is second start of the season for the Raiders and his first since September 26 when he helped the Raiders win 6-4 in Regina. Between his first start with the Raiders and this call up, Bass has posted a 0.924 save percentage through nine games with the Battlefords North Stars.

Ty Meunier’s sixth of the season breaks a 16 game goalless drought that to Halloween night.

The Raiders will now finish their second three-game-in-three-nights stretch against a team with the same schedule this weekend, the Saskatoon Blades. Both teams have picked up wins on Friday and Saturday, and they’ll meet in the SaskTel Centre at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.
