Truck driven at officer during Sturgeon Lake arrest

Nov 17, 2025 | 12:34 PM

UPDATE: This story was updated to include details of the arrest.

An armed robbery suspect who was denied parole in Prince Albert Provincial Court this morning is alleged to have driven a vehicle at an RCMP officer, forcing them to run out of the way to avoid being hit.

Prince Albert RCMP said that when they learned on Friday that that Kalen Felix and another suspect were in Sturgeon Lake, they began searching and found the suspect truck, which had been stolen from Emma Lake, on the Sturgeon Lake Road.

They activated emergency lights and started a traffic stop but the driver did not pull over, fleeing at high speeds.

After that, the truck was seen being operated erratically and making dangerous manoeuvres as the driver attempted to avoid being stopped.

While one officer was laying out a tire deflation device, the truck was driven at the officer who ran into the ditch to avoid being hit. It instead struck a parked police vehicle.

A man and a woman jumped out of the truck while it was still in motion, got into a nearby SUV and drove away. They made to Agency Road on the First Nation, got out of the SUV and were arrested.

Officers then found the SUV at a home in the area and another man was arrested inside of the house.

One of the suspects had ammunition on them, which was seized by the police.

Kalen Felix made his first appearance on multiple charges in Provincial Court on Monday morning.

As he appeared in front of the judge in Prince Albert, Felix was wearing a black Scarface shirt and only spoke when asked if he knew why he was there.

Felix said he did and was soon after remanded to Friday, Nov. 21. This was to allow lawyers time to review a lot of disclosure (evidence).

In relation to the series of events that occurred on the afternoon of Nov. 7 near Wahpeton Dakota Nation, Felix is facing close to 30 charges related to guns, stolen property, impaired driving and assault with a weapon.

The chain of events started when a vehicle that was observed driving erratically at a high rate of speed on Whitfield Road, lost control and collided with a power pole.

The driver (alleged to be Felix) was armed with a gun and attempted to steal two other uninvolved vehicles before stopping a third passerby and taking their vehicle.

That vehicle was later located abandoned in Prince Albert by the Prince Albert Police Service.

One of the other vehicles left the road and entered a slough during the driver’s altercation with the suspect.

Alyssa Bear, age 23, is charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, resisting officers and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

She, along with Ian Seewalker, age 36, were also in Prince Albert Provincial Court Monday morning.

Seewalker’s charges include dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police and failing to comply with release orders.

New charges for Felix include flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, assault on a police officer, resisting, failing to comply with a release order, driving while prohibited and having a weapons contrary to an order.
