Guilty pleas entered for Midtown drug bust

A man facing three dozen charges after a drug bust in Prince Albert’s midtown area, has entered a number of guilty pleas and is now awaiting sentencing.

Tyson Tobey appeared by video from the men’s correctional centre, when his case was discussed Monday morning at provincial court.

By way of his lawyer, Tobey entered guilty pleas to two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, as well as two counts of possession of a restricted firearm, and also breach of a previous order.

A pre-sentence report which will canvass Tobey’s background and assist the judge with a final sentencing decision has been ordered. The next court date for the case is Jan. 2.

On May 22, 2025, the Crime Reduction Team became aware of an individual believed to have firearms and be trafficking drugs in Prince Albert. Tobey was in turn arrested at a business north of Prince Albert.

Further investigation led to a Controlled Drug and Substances Act search warrant being executed at a residence in the 500 block of 10th Street East.

One vehicle was seized as well as the following items: 725 grams of methamphetamine, 111 grams of cocaine, 32 grams of cocaine buff, $2,470 Canadian Currency, six firearms, a flashlight Conducted Energy Weapon, two sets of brass knuckles, assorted ammunition, two air pistols, two crossbows and a digital scale.
