In the final game of a seven game road swing, the Prince Albert Raiders went to Wenatchee for their yearly battle with the Wild. The Raiders were a little slow out of the gate and the Wild took advantage, but the Raiders managed to tie the game and send it to overtime before the Wild took the 4-3 win.

The Raiders got the first powerplay of the game which they forced thanks to a great forecheck, but despite moving the puck well they didn’t generate much for offence. On their first powerplay though, the Wild managed to score though thanks to Blake Vanek finding the back of the net on a wrist shot from the right side at 8:48.

Then at 13:51, Luka Shcherbyna came in hard on the forecheck and the Wild managed to turn it over from the Raiders. Shcherbyna went to the front of the net and roofed a backhand to give the Wild the 2-0 lead.

The Raiders got one back at the 16:01 mark of the first period when Brock Cripps made a great play to knock the puck down at the left wall to hold the blueline, and he managed to dance his way into the zone and into the slot where he buried his first of the season with a fantastic goal.

After 1: Raiders 1 – 2 Wild, shots 13-9 Wild

The second period the Raiders played one of the best periods they’ve played all season, often time hemming the Wild in their own zone with over a minute worth of pressure while firing a ton more shots on goal, but the young Tobias Tvrznik kept the door shut for the Wild.

At the 7:04 mark, the Wild scored the only goal of the period when a shot from the point by Michal Capos hit the post and bounced off the back of Michal Orsulak, and Maddix McCagherty tapped in the rebound to restore the two goal lead.

After 2: Raiders 1 – 3 Wild, shots 19-10 Raiders, 28-23 Raiders overall

In the third, the Raiders got a great goal when Benett Kelly sent the puck up from the left point for Jonah Sivertson at the side of the goal. He made a great play to send the puck across the crease for Evan Smith, and he tapped the puck into the open net for his eighth of the season.

Then at the 16:35 mark, another one of the Raiders latest clutch players found the back of the net. Riley Boychuk worked the puck back to the middle of the blueline for Matyas Man, and he made a great headfake to get the puck to Linden Burrett at the right point. With a wide open lane to shoot, Burrett fired a wrister home for his second of the season to tie the game, sending it to overtime.

After 3: Raiders 3 – 3 Wild, shots 14-5 Raiders, 42-28 Raiders overall

In overtime, the Raiders had possession for decent amount of time but after a chance on goal, the Wild took control of the puck and went down on a 2-on-1. At the 1:51 mark, it was Caelan Joudrey fired a shot that Orsulak got a piece of, but it snuck by and into the back of the net to hand the Raiders just their second loss of the seven game road swing.

FINAL (OT): Raiders 3 – 4 Wild, shots 1-0 Wild, 42-29 Raiders overall

The Raiders collected 11 of a possible 14 points during their seven game road swing, including a win over the league leading Everett Silvertips.

Linden Burrett was clutch for the Raiders in the final three games of the road swing. He picked up four points during that time (one assist he isn’t currently creidted fro on the WHL website), all of which came during the third period. He also picked up points on the game tying goals that sent the game to overtime in both Seattle and Wenatchee.

The Raiders now have a full week’s rest before welcoming the Brandon Wheat Kings on Friday for the Raiders’ first home game since November 1st.
