Constant murder case committed for trial

A Prince Albert murder case, involving a man alleged to have killed his mother, has been formally committed for trial at Court of King’s Bench.

That was the result of a preliminary inquiry hearing which wrapped up last week at provincial court. The dates for Everett Constant’s trial have not yet been set and will be determined during a pre-trial conference.

The case dates back to May 4, 2024. Prince Albert police attended to a residence in the Unit Block of 28th St. W. for a violent family dispute.

Beverly Constant was pronounced deceased at the scene and her son Everett was arrested soon after and has been in custody ever since.

In the days that followed, police confirmed Everett was first picked up on May 3 and taken to Victoria Hospital for a medical matter.

After being cleared medically, he was arrested and held overnight in PAPS cells and then released the following morning at 10 a.m. He was given a court appearance date for the end of the month on assault charges. This had to do with a hospital staff member.

Sources close to the situation told paNOW that Constant had long struggled with mental health-related issues and had been seeking help with no success.
