Prince Albert Police’s Major Crimes Unit (MCU) is investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian that happened overnight on Saturday.

Police say the incident happened at around 4:30 a.m. in the area of Highway 2 and Highway 55 East, just north of the Diefenbaker Bridge.

Initial reports said that the pedestrian, an unidentified woman, was struck by a vehicle and was unconscious and not breathing. Parkland Ambulance quickly arrived on scene and performed life-saving measures before transporting the victim to hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased. The driver remained on scene.

The Major Crimes Unit is continuing to investigate, alongside the Forensic Identification Section (FIS), Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan (CTSS), and a Saskatchewan RCMP Forensic Reconstructionist.
