New website delivers advanced tools and data for pulse crop producers

Oct 1, 2025 | 5:20 PM

A digital platform that helps pulse crop producers select the best varieties for their specific growing conditions and location has been launched.

The Pulse Variety Hub serves as a central resource where farmers can get detailed variety information, compare performance data across different regions and make informed decisions about which pulse crops—including lentil, pea, chickpea, faba bean, and dry bean—will perform best in their specific geographic areas and growing environments.

The enhanced platform represents a significant advancement in agricultural technology, building upon the previous tool while delivering improvements across all aspects of user experience and functionality.

Saskatchewan Pulse Growers Board Chair Winston van Staveren said it represents continued commitment to support farmers with the most transparent and accessible agricultural information available.

“We are excited to introduce this powerful new tool that will help pulse producers make more informed variety selection decisions,” van Staveren said.

The platform serves as a resource for pulse crop producers looking for a variety based on specific growing conditions, regions, market requirements, and production goals.

The database includes detailed information on agronomic characteristics, disease resistance profiles, maturity ratings, and performance data across various growing environments.
