Menopause 2 actors bring big laughs and catchy songs

Sep 21, 2025 | 6:00 AM

A story about four women going through menopause has as much to offer men as it does its female audience.

That’s according to Deb Radloff, who plays “Earth Mother” in the production of ‘Menopause 2’ coming Monday to Prince Albert’s EA Rawlinson Centre. Radloff told paNOW menopause is something that half the population of the entire world goes through, yet it’s not widely talked about.

“I think there’s a lot of great things to learn there for people, for men, especially if they are partners or they have spouses or family members who are going through it,” Radloff said. “I think there’s something there to be enjoyed and learned. It’s just a fun show.”

Five years after their chance encounter in a department store, the women set sail on a cruise. Radloff described her character as a warm, loving type of hippie who has been with her long-term domestic partner for 29 years. All the characters are sort of dealing with their own things, and Earth Mother reflects on what she needs in her own relationship.

“It’s her time to figure out ‘I think I need support too’,” she said.

Radloff has a great deal of experience performing in larger theatres, and while acknowledging she’s never performed on the stage at the EA Rawlinson Centre, she said she’s looking forward to the experience.

“You have this immediate and wonderful connection with the audience there and that’s always great. It’s like you get to see in real time the effect the show and the material and your performance is having on people.”

The soundtrack is comprised of parodied songs that audience members who grew up in the 70s, 80s, and 90s should instantly recognize.

“That’s always a joy when they recognize the songs and then when they laugh at the lyrics, that is so fun,” Radloff said.

When asked what it meant to her personally to be a part of this production, Radloff explained it’s been an amazing process with a talented company that knows how to run a really tight ship.

“It’s a very close group and I love the choreography. It’s just amazing and the music arrangements are just great. I’m just really grateful and happy to be a part of it”

Monday night’s show starts at 7:30p.m.
