Story updated at 1p.m.: names added after confirmation charges were sworn

Just before 10:30 Friday night, Prince Albert police responded to a report of a robbery with a firearm in the 600 block of 17th St. W.

Two victims were sitting in their vehicle in a driveway, when two masked suspects, armed with a shotgun, approached. Police said one of the victims was assaulted with the weapon before the suspects stole the dark blue 2016 Chevrolet Cruze and fled.

About an hour and a half later, police were dispatched to the 1000 block of 14th St. W. A man had been shot by suspects in a passing vehicle. He was taken to the hospital in Prince Albert before being transferred to Saskatoon for treatment of what police called ‘significant injuries.’

Just minutes later, around 12:11 a.m., a report of another robbery with firearm came in – this time on Jack Matheson Crescent. A vehicle matching the earlier stolen Cruze pulled up beside a parked vehicle. Masked suspects approached with a shotgun. When the victim tried to flee, his vehicle was shot at and disabled. The suspects tried, but failed to steal the vehicle before fleeing.

At 1:41 a.m., police responded to River St. E, where two victims were confronted by suspects with a shotgun while parked in a Ford Escape. The victims fled on foot as a weapon was discharged. The suspects then stole the vehicle and left the scene in both the Escape and previously stolen Cruze.

Officers found the vehicles in the 20th Ave. W. area and during a track with the canine officer, three firearms were recovered. Two suspects, 27-year-old Mary Rose Daigneault and 28-year old Wiliam Hunt Charles, were taken into custody and appeared in court today. Both are charged with multiple firearm offences and were remanded to Sept. 11.

Police continue to investigate and anyone with information is asked to contact police at 306-953-4222. Anonymous tips can be provided to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online.
