Young Jiu-Jitsu athletes excel at Saskatoon tournament

The Western Kids Open, hosted by the Canadian League of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, was held in Saskatoon last Saturday and a number of young athletes from the Prince Albert area returned home with medals.

A total of six competitors were there on behalf of the Renegade Grappling Academy:

Deacon Henderson [White Belt, 4-5 years, 66-72lbs) won silver in Boys Gi and No-Gi

Eric Nagy [White Belt, 6-7 years, 62-68lbs] won silver in Gi and bronze in No-Gi

Charil S [Gray Belt, 8-9 years, 75-80lbs] won bronze in Gi

Over a dozen young athletes from Prince Albert’s North Wake Martial Arts also attended:

Westin Lara [white belt, 6-7 years, 48 lbs] won bronze in boys GI and gold in no Gi.

Buster Reimer [white belt, 6-7 years, 62lbs] won bronze Gi and silver in no Gi

Isaac Fines [grey, 6 -7 years, 69 lbs] won silver in boys Gi

Augustus Friesen [grey, 6-7 years, 69lbs] won gold in boys Gi and bronze in no Gi

Gage Newhouse [grey, teen 1 12-13 yrs, 89lbs] won bronze in boys Gi and bronze in no Gi

Taevyn Crawford [white, 8-9 years] won gold in girls Gi and gold in no Gi

Penelope Reimer [yellow, 10-11yrs] won silver in girls Gi.

In total there were over 400 athletes at the one day tournament.
