Strong start to the 2025 cash advance program

Apr 1, 2025 | 3:42 PM

The first cash advances under the 2025 Advance Payments Program (APP) have been issued.

APP is a federal loan program administered by the Canadian Canola Growers Association (CCGA). It offers Canadian farmers marketing flexibility through interest-free and low interest cash advances.

CCGA provided over $310 million to more than 1,750 farmers across Western Canada.

CCGA Vice-President, Finance & APP Operations Dave Gallant said there has been a substantial increase in spring applications compared to the same time in previous years.

“The need for spring cash flow to get the growing season started is top of mind with Western Canadian farmers this year,” he said.

CCGA began accepting 2025 applications under the early application window in mid-February and will continue processing applications throughout the program year.

Gallant said every year, over 10,000 farmers in Western Canada benefit from the flexibility and cost savings of a cash advance from CCGA.

“The combination of no-interest and low-interest financing can result in significant cost savings,” he said.

For 2025, farmers can apply for up to $1 million in financing, with the first $250,000 interest-free and the remaining at CCGA’s interest-bearing rate of prime less 0.25 per cent.

First-time applicants are encouraged to apply through CCGA’s contact center by calling 1.866.745.2256 where staff can walk new applicants through every step of the process. Returning customers can also use the self-serve options available in their online account at ccga.ca.
