Mar 17, 2025 | 2:55 PM

An informal rideshare in Prince Albert did not turn out very well for one person after their vehicle was stolen at gun point two days ago.

PA Police were called on March 15, just before 5 am to the 300 block of 19th Street West for an armed robbery in progress.

They learned that the vehicle was stolen at gunpoint while being uses as an informal ride share.

The victim was found in the 300 block of 22nd Street West as was not hurt.

Officers found the stolen vehicle with no people inside in the 3000 block of 5A Avenue East and arrested Jamyn Crawford, age 29, and Kayla Cook, age 28, shortly afterwards.

They also found the keys to the stolen vehicle and sawed off shotgun.

Crawford and Cook faces charges of using a firearm during a robbery, failing to comply with release orders and breaching conditional sentence order.

Both made their first court appearance on March 17.

Both Prince Albert Police and RCMP have warned people to be cautious about ride sharing in recent weeks.

A man and a woman robbed a driver of their vehicle in Prince Albert on February 26, also early in the morning and fled.

That vehicle, a grey Silverado pickup, was tracked as far as St. Louis before disappearing.

Last week, RCMP issued a warning after a woman was sexually assaulted during a ride from southern Saskatchewan to Saskatoon.

The assailant was caught.

Both police services are advising people to make sure someone knows where they are going and when they plan to travel, trust your instincts and don’t get in the vehicle if it doesn’t seem right.

Many of the ride shares are found through social media groups and are not connected to commercial ride share services.

In November 2024, Jamyn Crawford and Kayla Cook were charged after an SUV was stolen from Prince Albert and found it later on Highway 55 between Smeaton and Nipawin.

The driver refused to pull over and the vehicle continued, despite a second attempt at a stop, and turned north on Highway 123 towards Cumberland House.

It took a tire deflation device and it ramming a police vehicle before officers managed to arrest the occupants.
