WATCH: Family tradition returns to Prince Albert Winter Festival

Feb 20, 2025 | 4:00 PM

A large smile fills Donna Colewell’s face after she’s asked what it’s like to share the dance floor with her great-granddaughter.

The pair were among those on Thursday who attended the Prince Albert Winter Festival’s Old Tyme Family Dance. It ran for three years at the Exhibition Centre and the dance floor was never empty.

“It’s awesome and it means a lot to me,” Colewell said. “She’s from [B.C.} so I don’t get to see her that much so this is great,” she said.

The latest event at the festival helped bridge a gap between generations of dancers, providing an opportunity for grandparents to dance and teach their grandchildren, and for longtime married couples to go back to the days when they were first courting.
