Saskatchewan RCMP continue to search for 29-year-old Ryan Lachance, the prime suspect in three stabbing incidents that occurred on Big River First Nation Saturday. A second suspect is no longer being sought by police.

Meanwhile, investigators have released more details on the timeline of events that started around 3:50 p.m. on Feb. 15. RCMP received a report of a stabbing on the First Nation and determined an altercation had occurred between a man and woman. The woman was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

About ten minutes later, police were notified of another stabbing that occurred at a second residence on Big River First Nation. The investigation determined a group of people entered the home and stabbed a man who was taken to hospital. His injuries were also described as non-life threatening.

Then, at about 4:20 p.m., officers responded to a third stabbing at a different location on the First Nation. That victim was transported by STARS to hospital for treatment of his injuries.

While offers were responding to that third stabbing, they received a report of an attempted robbery with a machete in Victoire. Sask., which is about 100 kilometres northwest of Prince Albert. The suspect was unable to steal the vehicle and fled on foot in an unknown direction.

Lachance, who is 5’6 tall and 150 lbs, has a teardrop tattoo under his left eye. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie with a large white logo on it and black pants. Police said he is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached. The last confirmed sighting of Lachance was around 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 15 in the Victoire area. He may be in a stolen black KIA Optima with Saskatchewan license plate 649 NPP or a grey BMW SUV, but this is not confirmed. Lachance is also wanted by Big River RCMP in relation to an unrelated aggravated assault that occurred in November 2024.

Anyone with information should call police or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
