A 41-year-old Saltcoats man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly assaulting a young child at a home in Yorkton.

According to the RCMP, officers were called to a home on Waterloo Road on Saturday afternoon for a report of a serious assault.

“Investigation determined an adult male assaulted a child, who is under the age of 6, who was transported to hospital with serious injuries,” the Saskatchewan RCMP said in a statement.

The Mounties said police could not provide any updates on the child’s condition due to privacy considerations.
