Four charged after shooting incident outside Northside bar

A shooting incident outside Northside bar Thursday morning resulted in multiple people being arrested, including a woman who bit one of the police officers.

Randy Charles, Kirk McDonald, Alicia Ross, and Nadia Naytowhow all appeared Friday morning at Prince Albert Provincial Court and were remanded to Jan. 28.

The incident occurred at approximately 12:15 a.m. RCMP received a report of a firearm discharge near a business and the investigation determined a man discharged a firearm towards a vehicle.

No injuries were reported to police.

The man with the gun, along with a group of individuals, then got into a vehicle and left.

Officers located the suspect vehicle on Highway 2, engaged their emergency equipment and attempted a traffic stop.

The suspect vehicle did not stop and instead fled at a high rate of speed. Given the safety risks, officers followed the suspect vehicle heading west on Highway 3 toward Shellbrook.

While following the vehicle, the occupants discharged a firearm and threw multiple items out the vehicle window, including a rifle. Officers located and seized the firearm from the side of the road. No officers reported physical injuries.

For safety reasons, a tire deflation device was set up and the suspect vehicle ran it over near Shellbrook, causing the vehicle to slow to a stop.

All four accused were arrested at the scene and during subsequent investigation, officers located and seized ammunition and three containers of cocaine in the suspect vehicle.

As one of the women was being lodged in Prince Albert RCMP cells, she bit one of the police officers, causing minor injury.

In addition to assaulting a police officer and possession of a controlled substance, the accused also face a number of gun related charges.

McDonald is additionally charged with discharging firearm at vehicle knowing there were people inside, flight from police, dangerous driving and pointing a firearm.

Charles is additionally charged with failing to comply with release order condition and Ross was additionally charged with a second count of assaulting a peace officer.

Both Charles and Alisha Ross were also arrested on outstanding warrants from Montreal Lake RCMP in relation to an armed robbery from January 16.
