‘Baby Glen’ busted in Rosthern, trafficking charges added to the list

“Baby” Glen Halkett, who recently escaped from the Prince Albert Penitentiary, has been arrested by RCMP’s Warrant Enforcement Team in Rosthern and now faces additional charges of trafficking in drugs.

The 29-year-old was arrested on Tuesday after he was seen in the passenger seat of a vehicle in the parking lot of a business on 6 St. East.

The vehicle’s driver attempted to flee but the Warrant Enforcement and Suppression Team members who responded prevented the vehicle from leaving the parking lot.

Halkett and the man driving the vehicle were arrested. Following that, another man and woman were also arrested.

Officers seized 197 grams of cocaine, 95 grams of meth, six grams of cannabis and over $1,600 in cash.

Halkett had other charges during his time on the lam after police almost caught him in the community of Little Red River north of Prince Albert on January 2.

That time, he was in the driver’s of the vehicle and police say when they attempted to arrest him, he accelerated and drove away, hitting the side of the police cruiser.

Halkett went missing from the minimum security of unit of the Correctional Centre on New Year’s Eve, where he was serving a sentence of two years, nine months for break and enter and possession of property obtained by crime, motor vehicle theft and fleeing from police along with dangerous operation of a conveyance.

Halkett’s charges from Rosthern include two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and driving while prohibited.

The other three people are charged facing similar charges and all made their appearances in Saskatoon Provincial Court this morning.
