A pair of Prince Albert Mintos have committed to playing for the Humboldt Broncos in the Sask. Junior Hockey League (SJHL) next season.

Earlier this week, the Jr. A club put pen to paper with Mintos captain Simon Garchinski and leading point scorer Luke Senick.

Garchinski, who turns 18 next month, is currently in his third full season with Prince Albert in U18 AAA where he has amassed a career-high 26 points (4G-22A) in 30 games. In total, the Martensville-born defenceman has 42 points (8G-34A) in 110 career games in the Green and Gold and was drafted by the Broncos with the 23rd overall pick in the 2022 SJHL U15 Draft.

“Simon’s game is at a level where we feel he’s ready for the next step. He is a solid defender, extremely responsible in his own zone who always looks to make the smart play. He clearly has developed the offensive side of his game while with the Mintos and we expect big things for him as a Bronco,” said Humboldt head coach and general manager Brayden Klimosko in a release.

Joining him is 16-year-old Senick, who currently leads the Mintos in scoring in his first year with the team. Through 26 games, the Saskatoon product has 27 points (12G-15A) and in his career, has 42 points (16G-26A) in 70 games across two seasons at the U18 AAA level. Senick joined the team from the Saskatoon Contacts and was the 2nd overall pick in 2023 SJHL U15 Draft.

“We’re super excited Luke chose to continue his hockey path with the Humboldt Broncos next season. He plays way above his age and has developed a really strong 200-ft game where he can be hard to play against while contributing offensively, and score goals,” continued Klimosko.

Both players have already made their debuts with Humboldt, as Garchinski has suited up three times over the past two seasons, while Senick got his first taste of Jr. A action on Jan. 4 against Kindersley.
