Buckland Fire Dept. receives green light for new tanker truck

Jan 12, 2025 | 8:00 AM

By the Fall, Buckland Fire and Rescue is expected to have a shiny new truck in its fleet.

Their board of directors approved the $600,000 purchase and the tanker truck should arrive by late summer. Fire Chief Paul See told paNOW it will make their job a lot easier.

“With the RM of Buckland, there’s no fire hydrants so water supply is a key for us and that’s a mission for this truck, it’s a water supply unit,” he said.

The new 2025 Kenworth truck, being built in Quebec, brings the fleet to seven and replaces the previous truck from 1992 which went out of service last fall.

“This truck will be a game changer actually because it holds 3,400 gallons of water and our largest tanker unit right now holds 1,500 gallons,” he said.

See explained after delivery, some training will be required on it, and the target is to have it in service by the fall.

In a social media post, See thanked the Board of Directors, who “always strive to equip Buckland Fire/Rescue to the highest level of standards possible.”
