This year’s winner of the Prince Albert & District Chamber of Commerce Legacy Award is the second member of his family to win the local prestigious accolade.

Byron Guy, took over Harold’s Family Foods from his father Harold, who also won the award in 1996.

“It is always a privilege to award business leaders for their commitment to the community,” said Chamber CEO Patty Hughes in a news release.

“Without their commitment, Prince Albert would not be what it is today. Byron has been a strong business champion for the community of Prince Albert, continuing the legacy and successfully operated the family business Harold’s Family Foods.”

Previous recipients include Trevor Ives, Don Moriarty, Terry Mason, Roses Stewart, Wayne Hansen and Ron and Shelly Horn in the 34 years the Prince Albert & District Chamber of Commerce has given out the honour.

Branch Manager Diane Ethier was quoted: “Harold’s Family Foods is one of the few remaining family-owned grocery stores in the province and continues to be a success in our community. Scotiabank looks forward to presenting the award to the Byron Guy family at the Legacy Brunch.
