Ahead of their matchup Tuesday night with the Moose Jaw Warriors, the Prince Albert Raiders have traded 2006-born forward Cole Peardon to the Red Deer Rebels in exchange for 2006-born forward Evan Smith.

Originally drafted in the fifth round by Red Deer, Smith comes from Kamloops, B.C. in his second season in the WHL. The 18-year-old forward posted 1G-3A-4P in his rookie season last year in 57 games, and he’s already past that mark this year with 1G-4A-5P in just 28 games, on pace for about 13 points on the year if he plays all 43 games left on the Raiders schedule. If he doesn’t miss a game the rest of the season, Smith will appear in 71 games this year.

Before coming to the WHL, Smith played his 16-year-old season with the Yale Hockey Academy’s U18 Prep team in the Canadian Sports Schools Hockey League (CSSHL) in Abbostford, B.C. where he posted a point-per-game in 32 games with 10G-22A-32P.

As for Peardon, the former 13th overall pick for the Raiders had his struggles earlier this year due to injury, and has only appeared in 16 out of 25 games for the Raiders on the season. Originally from Outlook, Saskatchewan, Peardon has 1G-2A-3P on the year for the Raiders.
