Weekend preview: Two Teddy Bear Tosses for Raiders against Calgary and Brandon
It’s going to be a tight turnaround for the Prince Albert Raiders this weekend when they first play host to the Calgary Hitmen Friday night in the Raiders’ annual Teddy Bear Toss game, and then the Raiders are on the road the following night to Brandon to take on the Wheat Kings in another Teddy Bear Toss matchup.
The Raiders are coming off their first regulation loss in nine games after a run of seven wins, one loss in overtime, and finally a hard fought 3-2 loss to the Red Deer Rebels.
Starting with Friday at home, the Hitmen are coming off of a three games in three nights weekend, winning 4-2 at home over Edmonton, losing 7-3 on the road in Medicine Hat, and finally laying a 9-0 trouncing on the Moose Jaw Warriors at home. The Hitmen are 13-8-3-1 (W-L-OTL-SOL) through 25 games, good for fourth in the Eastern Conference.
The Raiders still have at least one game in hand on the entire league with a record of 11-9-3-0 record for ninth in the Eastern Conference. The Raiders are just one point back of Edmonton for that final playoff spot, and just three points back of the log jam for fifth. This will be the first time the Raiders and Hitmen will meet each other this season.
