Three arrested after drone caught towing drugs into Sask Pen

Dec 5, 2024 | 4:33 PM

A drone used to transport drugs into Saskatchewan Penitentiary, was observed carrying a package by way of a tow rope.

That’s according to Saskatchewan RCMP who noted that as a result of their investigation, staff at the prison located and seized approximately 83 grams of methamphetamine, a small amount of cannabis concentrate, tobacco and cell phones/chargers.

The incident dates back to earlier this fall, and Correctional Service Canada (CSC) immediately informed Saskatchewan RCMP’s Prince Albert General Investigation Section (GIS).

On Dec. 3, three inmates were arrested and charged in relation to the ongoing investigation.

Andrew Corrigal, 36, and Donnely Nanaquewetung, 31, are each charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine).

Cy Sharp, 28, is charged with trafficking methamphetamine.

They all remain in custody and have pending court dates.

Last month, a spokesperson for the union representing correctional officers told paNOW drones have become a big problem and are difficult to track.
