Dec 4, 2024 | 4:27 PM

A man alleged responsible for a stabbing in Prince Albert that sent the victim to hospital with serious injuries, has been granted bail and will be supervised by someone who has their own outstanding charges.

Kain Laliberte appeared by video from the men’s Correctional Centre as his matters were discussed Wednesday afternoon at Prince Albert Provincial Court.

The consent release granted by Crown Prosecutor Doug Howell comes with a number of conditions including a 24-hour curfew, living at an approved residence, abstaining from drugs and alcohol, and no contact with the victims.

In the early morning hours of Nov. 20, police were called to a home in the 500 Block of 19th Street East.

The victim, a 47-year-old man, was found suffering from serious injuries and transported to hospital.

As per the latest update from family, he has been released and is recovering.

In relation to this offence, Laliberte was charged with aggravated assault. He also two other outstanding assault charges, including one involving a peace officer.

Laliberte’s surety was present in the courtroom and just prior to the hearing, had his own matters dealt with in a neighbouring courtroom.

Not guilty pleas were entered to charges related to obstruction and breaches, and a trial date was set.

Prior to releasing Laliberte, Judge Harradence noted the outstanding charges but also the fact the surety has no criminal record.

Upon asking Howell if he was aware of the circumstances, Howell replied he was.

Laliberte’s next court date is Dec. 16.
